I sat in the room of Red Clay Café (Downtown, Greenville, SC) noticing many poets preparing to speak…this young man dressed as if he was finally free to relax and sip a glass of wine or two while enjoying the poetry was a few feet away from me. I lost myself as time passed and the set began…

A few other poets had risen the occasion of speaking when called upon and the name Jason aka “Jay Fitty,” was summoned.

I found myself looking around to see who it was and behold the gentleman who I had noticed earlier sitting so calmly, was now rising to the stage. Interesting…
This was the night I encountered the spoken word artist by the name of Jason Franklin, otherwise known as “Max Lit” and “Jay Fitty.”


Originally from South Jamaica Queens, NY (New York), Mr. Franklin truly has his own unique style of MC'ing and written accomplishments. He is known for his militant stance as well as presentation. He has views, points and concepts that catch your ear as well as brains…
Hence the name “Max Lit,” which states the maximum of literacy! Educating the mind and keeping it strong and aware…

Sinking Thoughts

Sinking thoughts...a quiet breeze, blows softly across my brow as I glaze upon a wave of wild flowers being guided by an invisible wind
Picture this......
A title wave of Jasmine and Glover rushing its aroma throughout your nostrils to your brain as you close your eyes and take in a world full of wind so sweet that your tongue salivates the nectar of honey suckle
Picture this......
The warmth of the sun slowly undressing your body from head to toe as you turn gracefully arms wide spread to embrace that which can't touch but can only feel. A menasetua of the sun, and wind caressing your thighs and around your waist to your neck and softly down your spine.
Picture this……
A deep moan surrounds your shoulders, your back and your lips, your face, and your chest, your arms and your hips, kissing thighs and feet your eyes and nose. Making wet your hair your fingers and toes, with chill you feel like none before known only to a few, stunned as you realize nature has made love to you. Sinking thoughts……a cool breeze blows softly across your lips as you gaze upon a wave of wild flowers being guided by an invisible hand.

otherwise known as “Silver Tongue the Poet” or “STTP.” Originally from North Carolina and now residing in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He’s traveled, explored and somehow mastered words in a way that many attempt but never actually accomplish. He’s able to take possession of words in a way that appears that they originally belonged to him. His poetry is solid and it trickles thoughts of self, life and love in a balanced manner.

I’ve had the opportunity to connect with Mr. Nelson, and he is as much like his poetry, solid and powerful….with more than a subtle hint of humility.
